Ton Geers is a Dutch visual artist working with Lokta paper, bamboo and digital imagery. His work explores the relationship between organic form, materiality and contemporary digital culture. Since the late 1980s he has designed artistic kites and flying objects, developing a strong fascination for lightness, tension and structure.
His recent works combine handcraft with AI generated imagery and digital processes. Using Nepalese Lokta paper, laser prints and bamboo constructions, he creates layered relief sculptures and organic paper objects that resemble fictional organisms or hybrid entities.
Through cutting, layering and assembling, Geers investigates how traditional materials can coexist with an increasingly digital world.
