The WINTERSALON of the Meissen Art Association follows the tradition of the annual exhibitions of many art associations, in which artists with a regional reference are given the opportunity to present their works of the last years to the public and to sell them. At the same time, the exhibition provides an overview of current themes, motifs, fields of work and contents of artists from Saxony and thus an insight into current developments and tendencies of the regional art scene.

The guideline "from the tree - to the wood - to the paper" reflects the appreciation for trees, which provide wood from which paper is made. The three artists complement each other in their respective work themes: There are drawings on the theme of trees (Gerda Moser), artistic woodturning works with fresh mossy wood (Hugo Braun-Meierhöfer) and origami paper objects (Ursula von Kirchbach).

Paper Art, Mildam, Netherlands, 2 Aug-2 Nov 2020, Canan Topaloglu-Hermans #iapmamember #paperartist #paperartexhibition #paperart #paperartinstallation #paperjoy💕 @canantopaloglu.art more information: 'The individual tea bag papers after their life function of giving colour, smell and taste, form after being dried and sewed together a new kind of patchwork. At first it seems to be a carpet, a textile, a painting, or a two dimensional object. But the paper starts to create its own form, almost spontaneously, as if it takes over control, finding new forms of life and function. Weather a ball, a cube, a square or sphere, it becomes a three dimensional self- forming object, a transmutation, constantly changing as life itself. In its lightness it is free and has no limitations in form nor in function.'

Scattering, 18 Oct-20 Dec 2020, Bennekom, Netherlands @mayasiepel #MayaSiepel #iapmamember #paperartist #paperartexhibition #paperart #paperjoy💕 More information: An article by Francien van Overbeeke entitled: Three books, a story about the Tenach, the Bible and the Koran was a source of inspiration for Maya for a project about world religions. A discovery of the writer is that these 3 books draw from the same source. Islam has the same roots as Christianity and Judaism. Roots that go back to a common patriarch. For Jews he is called Avraham, the Christians call him Abraham and for Muslims he is called Ibrahim. And so God also has different names: JHWH, God, Allah.

She is showing the serie "Pleureuses" and "The remarkable disappearance ....". The latter is about insect numbers that have declined alarmingly. The work shows an increasingly disappearing image of an insect. For the series “Pleureuses” she used the feathers of, among others, the white heron as an example. They are cut from a block of tracing paper. The block remains intact with contours visible and the feathers hanging like a "tail".

Zeiten - Schichten - Schriften - Winterthur, Switzerland Christine Läubli 29 Aug - 12 Sep 2020, opening 20nov2020 #christineläubli #iapmamember #paperarts #paperartist #paperjoy💕 More Info: Time is an incomprehensible phenomenon for humans. Our body changes, things pass away, new things take the place of the old. Our memory stores in a disorganized way what seems important to us. Images and writings make it possible to collect, order and design in a targeted manner. Just like the thread, Christine Läubli accompanies writing through life. Whether in the creation of images or the writing of texts - it is always a matter of finding the precise form. By dealing with a topic for a long time, she tries to grasp its core and shape it in its very own way. The attraction lies in the process, in the slowness, the silence, in which something new breaks open, takes shape and expression.

The IAPMA menbers Bara Lehmann-Schulz and Kathrin Biffi-Frey have been using Paper for many years, to express and shape objects, images and installations. In 2005 – 2013 they created temporary installations in the Maggia river bed, in Swiss Tessin, using Paper and a few aids. This experimental work within a landscape shaped by glacial erosion used paper, light, and the weather, as well as standing and flowing water, and has characterised this project. It is these simultaneously transient and eternal, soft and hard, static and moving elements that make their work so fascinating.

Bridge made from Paper

May 26, 2015 • 08:35 UTC

Of Interest

No glue. No cables. No steel reinforcements. The only thing keeping this bridge intact is, well, physics.
If you happened to be strolling across the Grisedale Valley—a ridiculously picturesque piece of land in Cumbria—over the past two weeks, you probably saw what looks like something out of a Monument Valley fever dream. A blindingly bright red bridge spanning a thin creek, made of nothing except thousands of sheets of paper. About 22,000 sheets, according to The Chronicle.
It’s called PaperBridge, and it’s the work of a UK artist named Steve Messam, who was commissioned by the area’s culture council to install it this spring.

The Tallinn City Archives have a voluminous collection of limp bindings in long-stitch, chain-stitch and tacketing. This technique was used mainly when binding simple bands for daily use, such as registers, accounts and notes but has also occurred in more important works. In the book, "Limp Bindings from Tallinn", eight of the bands are presented together with thorough technical descriptions. Hopefully, you will be inspired to develop new variations.
The book, in offset print, is printed in 600 copies on Multidesign Original white 150-gram paper and has a protective cover in Curious Touch, 250 grams. The design of the 48-page book is inspired by medieval writings and is illustrated by artist Jordi Arkö.
The book can be ordered by my mail monica@langwe.se I will then give instruction how to pay via PayPal.
