Statement
My artistic work investigate the nature and function of daily objects, old artifacts and folklore. We are surrounded every day by objects that tell a lot about us and relate to our memories. Every object brings with it a certain sentimentality and metaphor. By abstracting, decorating or deforming, I bring the objects into discussion with one another.
The implementation of the poetic in brushstrokes by contrasting black and white has always fascinated me. The brush follows the rhythm of the breath and every stroke is mastered. I have always enjoyed working with materials which have their own character and power and aren’t easy to control. The main focus of my artistic work is painting on paper and stone printing. I paint with Indian ink, self-made iron gall ink and watercolors. At the same time, I am experimenting intensively with lithography. Each picture is an intense and dynamic interaction with water, ink and paper or stone. Chinese calligraphy and ink painting is an important role in my work process, as is a highly valued tradition in the visual arts.
