Dot Young is a Scottish artist, based in London whose sculptural practice explores the beauty and fragility of nature and the transience of existence under the ever increasing shadow of climate change.

The ‘Climate Pods’ and ‘Antennae’ presented in ‘The Paper Path’ act as ecological barometers, evidencing the detrimental effects of the rising global temperatures and impact of the climate crisis

Delicately formed from sustainably produced Japanese Mitsumata paper they raise questions around notions of permanence and ephemerality and our relationship with nature. In Young’s practice she reflects on the philosophical and religious backdrops that have informed our attitudes and understanding of how we live and function in the world and how with more reflection and consideration we may develop a more positive synergy with nature.
