Visual artist, I am also a paper artist, so central is this material to my work.

As an artist-researcher, I trace back to the origins of my practice to better understand it, and I delve into the origins of my materials to refine their manipulation. I track down environmentally friendly materials, preferably local or recycled. I explore all possible avenues, sometimes improbable, to enhance my creative process.

I also aspire to blur the boundaries between craftsmanship and art by adopting age-old techniques. I strive to achieve a mastery rooted in the gesture, the human touch, and the act of passing down knowledge. The significance of the hand holds as much weight as the final result. Employing ancestral techniques that demand time is equally crucial.

In 2022, during a year-long artistic residency in Touraine, France, my work evolved with new techniques and insights into weaving and braiding, thanks to the expertise of Touraine artisans – basket weavers, osier growers, weavers, spinners, dyers. These acquisitions allowed me to incorporate plant fibers into my artistic endeavors.

I aim to breathe life into paper. The three-dimensionality beckons me. I am compelled to go beyond the simple sheet and immerse myself in the artwork for the continuity of its essence. The spirit of paper takes shape.

This entails working with sensation, emotion, and the unconscious as a poetic resistance to our environment, seeking to re-enchant the everyday.
