Feza Aygın Sanıvar, born in Limassol, currently resides in Kyrenia. Her artistic journey began in her childhood, and during her high school years, encouraged by her art teachers, she started to focus on painting. During that time, she emphasized pencil sketches. She later enrolled in the Department of Fine Arts at Hacettepe University, but due to life circumstances, she had to leave her studies and enter the workforce. Despite this, Sanıvar managed to keep art in her life, attending three different painting workshops to learn various painting techniques, eventually mastering acrylic painting.
In 1989, she participated in her first group exhibition under the mentorship of the late painter Ali Atakan. Between 1994 and 2004, she exhibited her works at State exhibitions and held her first solo exhibition in 1998. Motivated by the success of award-winning exhibitions, she expanded her artistic endeavors into ceramics, marbling, and handicrafts. She received an honorable mention in ceramics and an award in handicrafts. She has held four solo exhibitions in painting, one in ceramics, and four in handicrafts (including felt art, miniature art, and soap decoration). In 2012, she organized her first miniature paper exhibition. Many of these exhibitions were held for charity, contributing to various institutions.
Sanıvar's paper-making journey dates back to her childhood, and she has strengthened her passion for art through recycling waste materials with an environmental consciousness. In 2016, she began making paper from plants, focusing on the production of paper from local plants in Cyprus. In 2018, the first paper she produced was preserved by the Cyprus Department of Culture. That same year, she held her first exhibition showcasing paper made from plants. Over time, she combined her art, paper-making, and painting, and expanded paper production in her own studio. She also produces and sells notebooks at festivals.
Continuing to create art with waste plants and paper, Sanıvar held her second solo exhibition and a group paper exhibition in 2023. In September 2024, she opened her third exhibition, entirely composed of paper made from plants. For Feza Aygın Sanıvar, art is an indispensable way of life, and she continually nourishes her creativity with new techniques while embracing a sustainable approach to art.
