PaperArt

I am fascinated by the sculptural potential of paper.

The themes of my work vary but are always connected to environmental questions and our relationship to the Planet.
Heavy influenced by my musical background and I would describe rhythm and movement as a central focus in my practice. Another theme revolves around processes of transformation-  aging, decaying, dyeing, germination and more.

My practice is ecological and I often work with found and recycled materials. I like to think that they tell me stories and that I give them a second chance.

I like to pair materials that are not traditionally meant to work together.  I use a Japanese process of manipulating paper called momigami.  This process allows me to use stitches.  I work with Japanese sashiko stitches, which are traditionally supposed to make the fabric stronger.
I also work with polypores to make handmade paper och form it into sculptures.

My  working process is intutiv. I keep adding layers of paper and stitches, while "listening" to my work, not suppressing the form, following what comes to me. The form almost takes care if itself and resembles the forms found in nature. I listen to the rhythm of my hand and the rhythm and sound of the stitching movement.
