Kirstin Rabe treats paper as a fragile material with the intention of sensing its special materiality and thereby hers
constantly expanding creative possibilities. The prerequisite and animation for the language of forms and their haptics is the meditative, sustainable process of paper production and processing. Old newspapers, cotton pulp and pigments are turned into self-cast sheets of paper, in further work steps the edges of the paper are formed into layered or knotted reliefs. Broken, wavy lines of countless paper layers lined up next to each other suggest constant movement, but in their entirety they radiate clarity and calm and visualize elementary phenomena of light, color and texture.
