Laureen Mahler is a designer and doctoral candidate in the School of Arts, Design and Architecture at Aalto University in Finland. Her research is focused on the design and creation of origami tessellations, and it takes a practice-based approach to the investigation of complex origami structures and their potential in art and design. Before moving to Helsinki, she was the co-founder of a printmaking studio specializing in fine art prints and experimental artists’ books, as well as a faculty instructor at the San Francisco Art Institute and the Berliner Technische Kunsthochschule.
